Imagine looking in the mirror and loving what you see? Fitting into the sleek and beautiful dress you adore that’s in the back of your closet? How would you feel if you had lots of energy, slept well at night, and saw a decrease in high blood pressure and cholesterol? According to the Harvard Medical School, even a 5% loss of your total body weight produces significant physiological changes. At a weight of 200, that’s 10 pounds. If you weigh 180, that’s 9 pounds, and at 150, that is 7.5 pounds. That might seem like a small amount according to your goal (mine was 40 pounds). However, it is a starting point and what I center the retreat on is consistency and a lifelong dedication to your health and well-being.
Most women lose approximately ½ of a pound a day on the retreat, although each person is unique. The main goal is to embrace healthy habits and shift your internal dialogue about your body and weight.
Not only are you shedding some pounds physically, but we tackle the root cause of the weight gain in the first place and how each of us can evolve beyond that. Years ago, I read the book “Fat is a Feminist Issue” by Susie Orbach. She states that fat has emotional components way beyond what we eat. Core issues may be centered around protection, inequality, sex, mothering, strength, assertion, anger, or love. We are all too familiar with the obsession woman have with needing to look a certain way for men, and the media’s focus on sexy and skinny. Thank God that is beginning to change as we see full-bodied women in clothing ads looking hot even in bikinis!
Whoever you are in life at this present moment, you are beautiful. You have a right to be here, to be happy, to love yourself, to grow and transform however you wish, to embody your body as your body. This is not a one size fits all approach. But you will have the opportunity to engage in different forms of exercise, each with a specific purpose; to eat healthy meals, to track your “inner and outer weight,” and be in a supportive setting to reach your personal goals.

Troncones is located approximately 20 miles north of the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH) on the Pacific coast of Mexico. You can travel to ZIH from several major airlines, including American, Alaskan, United, and Aeromexico. New flights will be added in the fall.
According to the Travel Channel, Troncones is nestled between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Mexican Riveria. Troncones It is a seaside village with a leisurely pace and a welcoming spirit. Visitors love the laid-back atmosphere and the 3-level height rule meaning there are no high-rise hotels in the area.

When I am in Troncones, I walk the beach every morning before the sun rises. I have gotten to know some phenomenal human beings that way, as many people come here and experience this little town not so much as a vacation but a way of life. I was immediately taken with Sondra. One ceremony she shared with me I found particularly touching. She would gather shells and have a small collection on a pretty plate at her hacienda. When she lost a pound, she would pick a special shell and at the end of her walk do a little ceremony of burying that symbol into the sand, with the intention of “I “lost” this pound, I bless you, but I don’t intend to find you.” She let it go to the sea and the sand, and the crashing waves swept the shell away. I loved this declaration and dedicated practice.
